Is this the right kit for this trip?
Your packing list knows what the kit weighs. This page checks whether it is the right kit for these nights and this forecast, and works out what will be on your back when you set off — food and water included.
The trip
Your packing list is empty, so there is nothing to check yet.

The bag is held to the comfort rating with 2 °C of margin, and 4 °C more if you sleep cold; the mat to the R-value band for the forecast; the pack to the big three plus food and clothes for these nights. These are the finder’s own rules, so the two agree.
Where the numbers come from
- Base weight is your list’s: everything in the pack that is neither worn nor eaten.
- Food is counted for the nights plus the day you walk out, at the figure you set; water at a kilogram a litre. Both are estimates you can change.
- The bag, mat and tent are checked against the finder’s own thresholds, using the catalogue’s verified specs; two mats add their R-values, as the guide says.
- Pack volume is your list’s packed litres plus the finder’s allowance for food and clothes at this temperature; a shared tent counts half.
